Naturopathic doctors are educated and trained in accredited naturopathic medical colleges. They diagnose, prevent, and treat acute and chronic illness to restore and establish optimal health by supporting the person's inherent self-healing process. Rather than just suppressing symptoms, naturopathic doctors work to identify underlying causes of illness, and develop personalized treatment plans to address them. Their Therapeutic Order™, identifies the natural order in which all therapies should be applied to provide the greatest benefit with the least potential for damage.

I am a certified nurse practitioner and I see patients ranging from 13 years to 100 years old!

I have a special interest in integrative medicine. I was inspired to pursue working in natural medicine with my own personal struggles of chronic digestive issues and hormonal imbalances. I believe each person is unique and the approach to their care and treatment plan should be as such.

I am able to provide annual exams for men and women (pap and breast exams) for 13 years or older, mole removals, medication management and updating prescriptions, acute visits for ages 13 or older, functional lab testing and natural approach as your primary care provider.

Conditions I specialize in includes memory issues, anxiety, depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, obesity, GI concerns, hormone imbalances for men and women, and skin concerns.

I love traveling, learning, reading, spending time at the lake, being around all furry animals, and cooking.

She completed rotations in dermatology, podiatry, nutrition, anti-aging medicine and medical weight loss during a year-long residency at Pro Sports Club in Bellevue, WA. She is also certified in Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, and T3 therapy for Dr. Wilson’s Temperature Syndrome.

She is passionate about finding solutions for her patients, often digging deeper than most to achieve healing.

Outside of her practice, Dr. Andrys is an active and energetic individual who enjoys a wide range of sports, including golf, tennis, basketball, running, swimming, and biking. She also loves spending time with her family and dog, Odie. Whether it’s cooking from whole food cookbooks, reading (she is a speed reader), exploring hydrotherapy spas, or embarking on outdoor adventures, she is on a mission to make the most out of life! Her favorite travel experience was a family trip exploring all the national parks in Utah, and she looks forward to future journeys to Greece, Italy, and Switzerland.

Originally from Moorhead, MN, Dr. Andrea Hillstad’s journey into Naturopathic Medicine is as unique as it is inspiring. With 12 years of experience, Dr. Andrea Hillstad brings a wealth of expertise in rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, chronic viral infections (EBV, Lyme’s disease, COVID, HSV, etc), mold toxicity, detoxification programs and energy medicine.

Driven by her own health challenges during college, Dr. Andrea sought out alternatives to conventional medicine, leading her to study Naturopathic Medicine at Sonoran University of Health Sciences in Arizona. This path not only resonated with her personally but sparked a passion for helping others navigate their own health journeys especially those with autoimmune conditions.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Andrea is a blend of creativity and curiosity. She’s an avid knitter, a collector of crystals, and a former instrumental music major with a passion for teaching the arts to children. Her love for music even took her across Europe, where she performed with the MSUM wind ensemble and woodwind quintet, playing flute and piccolo.

At the end of a busy day, you’ll find Andrea at home with her two dogs, unwinding with snuggles and a hot bath. And when she’s not busy helping others, she’s dreaming of buying an old house to restore, inspired by Nicole Curtis of Rehab Addict fame.

A true lifelong learner, Dr. Andrea is currently delving into sacred geometry, further enriching her approach to problem-solving, which she combines with thorough research and intuitive insight. She lives by the advice, “Know what you don’t know and then go learn it,” a philosophy that continues to guide her in both her professional and personal life.

At Fargo Naturopathic, Dr. Andrea feels a strong sense of camaraderie and belonging—a reflection of the larger purpose that drives her every day. Whether she’s guiding a patient towards better health or learning something new, Dr. Andrea Hillstad is a healer who brings both heart and mind to the art of medicine.

Patient testimonies:

“Dr. Andrea has helped me immensely. She has so much knowledge. She is able to educate and explain to me what I needed to do in a nonjudgmental way. She empowered me to take control of my own health. She has also performed Medical Qigong on me and I felt fabulous afterwards. I was able to release lots of energetic holds that didn’t serve me anymore. I’m so thankful for her. I would highly recommend her to anyone that wants a change and to take control of their health”

“Dr. Andrea is extremely knowledgeable in her work. Her expertise in understanding what your body needs is incredible.” -KC

“Dr. Andrea has been amazing. I absolutely love picking her brain about any and all health topics. If you are not happy with your current doctor or if you are looking for a different approach, I would give Dr. Andrea a call. She genuinely cares about your well being and all around health.” -BR

“She is profoundly gifted, perceptive, compassionate and brings an energy of acceptance, balance, and overall wholeness in her own being, practice and to others.. She listens and responds with true talent, education and guidance that truly is holistic, healing and preventative.” -KC

“I have been dealing with many health issues for years now. Chronic pain, gastrointestinal issues, fibromyalgia, among other things. Recently, I had a gemstone therapy session with Dr. Andrea. I could feel changes in my body throughout the session, but the real game changer was waking up the next morning with less pain and stiffness. I haven’t felt like that in years. I felt better rested as well. She is intuitive, kind, and has vast knowledge for treating both mind and body. Her approach is to find what’s causing your issues, not to just treat symptoms. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to take a healthier more natural approach to their health and well-being” - MS
